Family and Domestic Violence Leave: What You Need To Know

New legislation has just commenced on the 1st of February, 2023, that entitles full-time, part-time and casual employees 10 days paid family, and domestic violence leave within a 12-month period.

This only applies to non-small business employees who have over 15 or more employees. Small business employees can access this leave from the 1st of August, 2023.

The following settings will apply to leave types under the family and domestic leave categories.

  • The leave balance won’t be shown on the employee’s payslip or in Xero Me.
  • Leave accrual calculation will be set to ‘no calculation required’ as the leave doesn’t accrue over time.
  • The unused balance won’t be paid out on employment termination.
